Dear naïve self,
When you wake up in the morning the first thing you do is avoid the mirror. Your imperfect skin and chubby body irritates you. You want to be different...
and by different you mean better and by better you mean perfect. It's unfortunate that just a few months ago you couldn't see that perfect means something different to every individual you walk past. Of course, there's the general idea of what a 'perfect' girl or guy should look like according to the magazines but for a long time you didn't realise one thing. Magazines will do and say what they need to do and say to make money. If every skinny, fat, black and white girl was allowed to be portrayed as the "IT" girl at the same time, then how would those glossy magazines be able to sell you things that you subconsciously think you need to apparently 'get the look'. It's really a pity that even after buying so and so products you still won't get the results they've sold you to believe. Being played over and over again by the media is literally how this world works and it's great that you're finally accepting to see things as how they are. Materialistic goods will not improve your self confidence. They're like fad diets, you wake up thin and the next day you're terribly fat.

Yes you're worth it, screw what they say
What if I told you I knew something you've been dying to know? What if I told you I had the solution to all of your problems? What if I told you, I could build your self confidence to be far bigger and better than you could ever imagine? That when you walk into a room, people will stop and stare. People will think that you my dear, are somebody- or at least will be somebody one day.
You will never be a 100% ready for change. Don't wait for the 'perfect' time. It will never come. Start Today.
Ah I see you've perked your ears up a little bit. Well the secret is in how you carry yourself. You have to believe that God does not simply 'do' imperfect. He turns coal into diamonds and fire into stars. You are that piece of coal and I see the fire in your eyes. Sans the drum rolls, here are the 4 simple steps you need to take to become the best version of yourself, your perfect self.
Destiny is for losers. It's just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen.
Step 1: Set goals.
This is a crucial step. I need you to focus on at least 2 goals that you want to achieve in the next 3 months and I need you to direct ALL of your energy towards them.
A few examples of some goals:
Do well in your leaving cert exams.
Get slim.
Eat healthier.
Indulge excessively in a hobby.
Step 2: Believe in yourself & do anything to achieve your goals
Step up to the plate and show the world that if you want to achieve anything in this world, you can and will. You can do anything you put your mind to. Just believe in yourself, have a little patience and most importantly a little faith. Giving up is for losers and you know damn well you were created for so much more than to sit at home and waste your time recklessly. No, that pathetic house party is not worth more than achieving your immediate goals. Be selective and know what's important to you.
Step 3: Reward yourself
Once you've achieved a goal, reward yourself. Whatever you choose to reward yourself with should represent the hard work, tears, sweat and time you've sacrificed to achieve said goals. This will not only help you to repeat this successful cycle but it will build your self confidence like nothing else in this world could.
Step 4: Repeat.
There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance. It's called humility. Confidence smiles while Arrogance smirks.
So there you have it. The key to building your self confidence has everything and nothing to do with your self image. Self confidence is about achieving goals and the more you achieve, the more your confidence blossoms. Be that girl who the world is dying to know, to be friends with, to associate themselves with- not the girl who has nothing to offer to the world.
